Make Phone Calls using Google's Gmail

Good news for Gmail users! Now they will be able to call directly from their Gmail to home phones and mobile phones. Sounds like Google joined the direct competition with Web calling service Skype and operators such as AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications.

Google Inc. officially announced the implementation of the service in its email and iGoogle. Before, Google had offered computer-to-computer voice and video chat services on its Gtalk and email. But such new service Google Talk VoIP comes as an excellent offer to the Gmail users who are going for other web calling services.

Making a call through the service is quite easy and in typical Goggle fashion, but works like a normal phone. The users need to click on the "call phone" option in their chat buddy list in Gmail and type in the number or enter a contact's name, as the new VoIP chat feature is integrated with your Google address book.

According to the analysts, the service Google Talk VoIP would likely to stand as a threat to the Skype and other traditional operators, who are providing calls to home phones from computers at low rates. With the service of the Google, US Gmail users will be more benefited who are making more international calls.

Further, Google has promised to allow free calls to US and Canadian phones from Gmail for the rest of this year and would charge low rates for calls to other countries.
