Proud parents Jolene Hansford and Alexander Eshuys after their daughter Susannah arrived at home in a hurry on Monday.
SUSANNAH Marlena Eshuys was in such a hurry to enter the world that young mum Jolene Hansford didn’t even have time to get to the hospital.
Susannah was born at home in Kearneys Spring at 7am on Monday to proud parents Ms Hansford, 18, and her partner Alexander Eshuys, 20.
Ms Hansford said she felt some back pain, but hadn’t known she was in labour.
“We were slowly making our way to the hospital, but it wasn’t meant to be,” Ms Hansford said.
“Alexander made sure the baby was okay and the ambulance officers just kept telling me to keep calm.”
Susannah is the couple’s first child and arrived at 41 weeks and one day. She is 56cm long and weighed 3558 grams (7lb 13.5oz).
Susannah is currently in special care for treatment for low sugar levels and after receiving a large amount of blood as the cord was not clamped off straight away.
We were slowly making our way to the hospital, but it wasn’t mean to be.
