MELBOURNE spring fashion took a trip on the city's most famous transport as proud local girl Ruby Rose launched her debut fashion line on a Bourke Street tram.
A preview of the model and TV host's foray into fashion was revealed when a low-floor tram became a runway today for her new label Milk and Honey.
The mobile show travelled through central Melbourne where, accompanied by puppy Daisy, she pointed to local landmarks, recalling her previous life working at a nearby call centre "helping people go through their phone bills".
"One thing I really missed about Melbourne when I was in Sydney is trams," Ruby told the show.
"They're so convenient, they look amazing and I just think that they scream Melbourne and so why not have a fashion show on a tram?"
The casual range includes distressed jeans, leather jackets, denim skirts and slouchy T-shirts, with an emphasis on digital prints.
It even features Ruby's version of a little black dress, sporting animal prints.
"It's very much the clothing I would wear," she told reporters.
"Hopefully people want to wear it to music festivals, or go and see bands, that sort of thing.
"It's a surreal experience to know that you're creating something than somebody then goes and wears outside and makes them feel a certain way when they wear it," Ruby added.
"I missed that aspect of my life when I went into television because even though I was creative it was all about you ... whereas art is so much about giving back to other people and expressing feelings and emotions."
And special guest grandmother Deirdre Langenheim also got in on the act, modelling a smart black and white ensemble for the cameras.
Melbourne Spring Fashion Week runs until September 5.
